Back to the Cards

What is a Potion?

Potion Cards are used to learn the values of the different binary bits in a byte. Binary is a numbering scheme with only two possible values, 0 or 1. In digital eletronics, these values represent the state of a signal (either ON, with a value of 1, or OFF with a value of 0).

All digital information is encoded using a set of 8 bits called a byte. The position of each bit in the byte has a value equal to the two power value.

In the potion above, the position of the bit is 7 (all positions start at 0 from the right to the left). Therefore, the number 2 power 7 is 128.

How to play?

Game: Potions 101

In potion 101, simply match a potion card with the correct bit position (bit 0 on the far right and bit 7 on the far left). Sum up the total of potion value cards for each bit that is set to 1.

The Escape

Some spells will require a certain potion power to activate. Use the appropriate potion card to cast the spell.
